What a couple of day it has been. My aim was to reach 200 page likes on Facebook by the end of the Scottish school holidays (schools close 27th June, yay!) on 18th August. Thanks to my fabulous Aunt (Lizzie B of Lizzie B's Cakes and Cupcakes https://www.facebook.com/lizziebscupcakes) I am nearly there. She has a great following, oh the dream, and posted a few of my pictures and asked her 'likers' to have a look at my page. The response has been overwhelming, and I can't thank her enough.
For those of you that are new to Lemon Thistle I will tell you a bit about myself. The business originally began in my dining room by my sister and I. The usual conversation of how we would like to work for ourselves, and our love for sewing, beautiful material and anything shabby chic and different. That was back in 2011.
I now work on my own, as Susan has other commitments, and I am lucky that I work within the Education system and have the luxury of school holidays. This allows me time to be with my girls, my son is all grown up now, and to sew. Eventually I would like to do this full time, but until then I shall continue to juggle the two.
Apart from a dodgy two years not vaguely interested in sewing in high school, I am self taught. I read a lot of books, and practice - A LOT. Sometimes, when trying something for the first time, I can spend a day or two really thinking about how to make it. Most of the time no patterns are used, hence the time taken to think things over. I don't claim to be the best sewer in the world, but I am constantly learning and improving. There is a huge difference between the first curtains I made nearly 20 years ago to what I make now.
During the summer break I aim to update this blog on a weekly basis, add pictures and tell tales of my sometimes crazy life.
Thank you all again for your lovely comments and support, and please feel free to leave comments on any of my blogs.
